Frankfort

Frankfort is a community with historic charm. You will find a balance between growth in development and preservation of our quality rural and rural environment. Frankfort strives to preserve its 1890’s prairie town charm. Frankfort has a population of over 14,000.

While the first pioneers were mostly of English and Scottish descent, coming mainly from New England Colonies, German settlers made the Village of Frankfort a reality. The 1840’s brought German settlers from the Pennsylvania area to Frankfort. Frankfort Township was named by Frederick Cappel after his native city, Frankfurt-Am-Main, Germany. Years later, in 1855, the Joliet & Northern Indiana Railroad built a line through the present Village 'Frankfort Station'. After the Village was incorporated in 1879, the word 'Station' was dropped from its name.

Frankfort has seen residential home values skyrocket as residents realize that Frankfort’s short commute to Chicago and other employment areas combined with agricultural roots, make Frankfort the leading choice in the southwest suburbs and Will county.
