New Lenox

New Lenox is located approximately 36 miles southwest of Downtown Chicago. The Village is about 10 square miles in area and is located in the center of New Lenox Township in the east central portion of Will County. The City of Joliet borders immediately to the west, and the remainder of the Village is surrounded by unincorporated Will County. Other nearby communities include Mokena and Frankfort to the east and Manhattan to the south.

The Population is about 16,000. The Village of New Lenox wasn’t officially created until October 1946 by a group of merchants serving the agricultural community east of Joliet. New Lenox Park District currently maintains over 400 acres of parkland, which is well above the national standard, for the population of the district.
